Les musardises d'Hippocrène

The workshop " Les musardises d' Hippocrène " invites you to discover its collection of paste paper.

The paste paper is a paper decorated according to a process well known by the bookbinders who, the first ones,
used it on their workshops from the XVIth century in France.

This process consists to apply on the paper a mixture of glue of flour or starch and paint (acrylic, gouache, pigments).
By leaving imprints or by removing the still fresh coloured glue,
using various accesories (sponge, cardboard, comb, spatula) , the motive will appear.
Today, the paste paper always serves in bookbinding, as material of covering or endpapers of a book
but we also use it for the framing, the cardboard craft, the scrapbooking, precious gift wrap, element of decoration in a frame...
